Question

Can you set the timing on an 85tpi Camaro if the engine light is on. I know its code 33 mass air flow the fricken wire in it broke some how. Anyway the book says to make sure the engine light is not on cause every time I try to set it stalls. I unplug the right tan and black wire but if I turn the distributor towards the correct timing mark it dies. All i can think of is the engine light dont have the new mass air flow sensor yet so I didnt try it. Other than all that it runs alright. Any suggestions?

If the wire is broken in your MAF sensor, get a new one first. With that wire broken, there is no circuit to tell the ECM what the airflow is so it can meter fuel properly.

there should be any instruction under the hood, i had a similar problem a couple years ago, i was unpluging the tan and black wire by the fire wall, only to find out that i was supposed to unplug the four lead connector from the distributor. hope this helps,

It's the tan and black and not the four wire distributor connector. I'm gonna get the new maf this week and see what happens.
