I have a 1986 2.8 FI camaro. Almost everyday now while driving my car will just quit taking gas. If I touch the gas petal it will stall almost immediately. It will stay ideling fine as long as I don't touch the gas. It will do it war or cold and it happens randomally. Everytime it occours I cost to the side of the road and leave it in park for 10 or so minutes and it will start working and taking gas again. Its always starts working again. It does have a new fuel filter. Could this be a gas cap problem or fuel pump is so why does it start working again??

Any help would be appreciated as it never fails when I take it to a mechanic!!!

Sounds like a weak fuel pump.

racecar spelled backwards is racecar.

probably fuel pump (sux-2-b-u !!)no check engine lights?? electric fuel pumps tend shut down when they overheat and will work again when they cool off. they usually "sing"
tend to be louder when they get weak. good luck...pb
