I have a 72 Camaro with a 350/350 setup. Yesterday as I was going around a corner the car lost all tranny function. There was no pop, bang, grind or whine. Nothing. It would go into park okay, but when I put it into any gear it acted like it was in neutral. So, put it up on jack stands today to take a look. Starting with the simple stuff, I checked the vacumn line and the kick-down cable. Both were okay. I dropped the pan to see if the valve body bolts may have worked lose. They were okay too.

The tranny has a new Langley 2500 stall converter + I added a B&M shift kit. I would say, since I put the tranny back in I have put maybe 200 miles on it.

What do you think? Possibly a clutch pack or gear problem? If you need more info just ask.

The B&M stuff made it shift so hard it broke it. Just kidding, well sorta.

For everything to quit all at once, I would look into the converter, or input shaft. As far as a clutch pack there is not a pack in there that will make it loose all gears at once.

The next thing that I would do is put the pan back on and check pump pressure. It is very likely that you broke a pump gear and lost pump pressure for every thing to quit all at once.

with the car level an running in park if your fluid is higher than normal (same as not running) you broke the pump. if you were a tad forcefull in installing the converter you could have cracked the ears on the pump they are cast an not that strong for blows. the good news is that if this is a fresh tranny you didnt hurt anything else as soon as the pump quits no metal gets passed through. just replace pump an clean include blowing the lines.
