i have an 83 camaro z-28 i cant get the speedometer to work i put a new gear in the transmission that the cable hooks up to and the cable will turn while you are moving but the speedometer wont workit also has cruise control. can i get rid of the cruise control and use one cable.

Shane,
I've never worked on one of those, but maybe the cable is in two pieces, one above the cruse control and one below it.
Check both cables, maybe one is broken.
You can replace just the inside cable but may need to remove the cable outer jacket to bring to a shop so they can get the length right.

Yes, you can bypass the cruise and use one cable. Just buy a cable for a non cruise car.
