Red face

Last night I was rallying my 67 rs. She has never run better and I was in aah. I came to a stop and she started sputtering like she wasn't getting enough gas. I pulled over and had to richen her up inorder to keep her from stalling. This morning I checked the destributer for cracks found nothing, checked all plugs and wires, checked ignition and coil all good. All the wires are in good shape, and I cleaned the air filter, and carburater. I even checked my compression. I started her up and reset the mixture. Now she is back to normal. What the hell went wrong the night before.

please help
Im still a rooke

Maybe you just got a hold of some bad gas or water in your tank. My Corvette did the same thing once and I to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running until I got home. I drained out some gas and it looked funny and had a weird smell to it. I took the bowl off the carb and there was some junk in the bottom of the bowl. I cleaned the carb and filled the tank with some good gas and all was fine.

I was haveing a problem for awhile and finally found it. I have a holley carb and the mixture screws have a rubber grommet to keep them in place. One of my grommets backed out enough to allow the mixture screw to work its way back in.

I just had the same thing happen with me Bird. Ran great one day and one my way to work it started stumbling. I chased the problem for 4 or 5 days, stopped and refilled the tank and the motor was fine after a few miles. I then though back and I had bought gas the morning it started to act up. Oh well, live and learn. Must have been made from a sick dinosaur!
