Hello everybody I am having trouble with my holley 800 cfm carb on my BBC. It tends to load up at idle and also does this weird thing, if you blow it out (rev it up) then let it idle, it will idle high for a while (10-15 seconds) and then slowly come down to the idle speed. I have checked for vacuum leaks and come up with nothing on the carb but I don't really know how to test the mani or if that is even the problem. please help!!

Adjust your float bowls, sounds like your primaries are hanging up. Do you have external sight plugs?

It sounds to me that the power valve in the Holley is blown. It will produce the problem you are describing. I went to Carters along time ago for that issue.

Maybe the power valve is ok and the effect is from the size change. Did you make any other changes? What problem were you trying to over come with the size change?

Well, I adjusted the size in accordance to the vaccume guage, the cam is good sized and the power valve would be opening at just off idle and you don't want it to open till at least three quarter throttle for good gas mileage then let the valve open to give power enrichment at WOT. I think the valve was bad when I put it in I bought it from a place where it had been sitting for quite some time so I think it may have been dry to begin with.
