I changed my intake on my BB. I am reassebling everything and for some reason the distributor does not go all the way down when the rotor is aligned with the "mark" I put on it. It goes all the way down about 1.5-2 inches away from the mark. From what I have been told, it does not light up with the oil pump "slot" that is directly on the bottom.

The engine has not been turned over at all.

What can I do to make this line up properly.

Thanks.

When you remove the distributor it turns the oil pump shaft as you lift it out. Often it will not line up in the same place because of this. You need to turn the oil pump shaft slightly whichever direction you're trying to get the rotor to end up. Usually with the oil pump shaft slot pointed at cylinder #7 is about right.

How do I do that? Use a long flat head screw driver?

Yes. What I'll do is just keep shoving it up & down because each time I do it it turns the rotor. I'll do it until the rotor ends up where I want it. Sometimes I think it's faster than trying to get the pump shaft lined up.
But that's just me. Jody's way will work and that's what most guy's seem to do.

I've tried the "up/down" method, but I can't get to line up..... I'll have to adjust the pump and try it that way.
