I've got an 82 camaro and where the steering box bolts to the frame the frame is cracked. Anyone know where I can get a weld in support plate. You can e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks for any help.

My brother had a 85 camaro with a FI 2.8...it cracked in the same place. The metal is so thin there you will probably not be able to get a good weld on it. My dad tacked it in several places and sold the car...and was sure to point this out to the buyer. Since the buyer was just wanting it for parts, he was ok with it.

Re: cracked frame

I just posted the same thing. my 1984 camaro has a crack just above the steering box on the frame. I have talked to a few people that seem to think you can weld it with plates. I called a local ironworks company. they have welders on their trucks and will come on scene to fix it. I just have to pul the steering box for them. look for a place like that near you.
