RS headlight limit switch adjustment

I just installed a brand new headlight system on my 1967 camaro. The two limit switches are mounted to the radiator core support as shown in the manual. The headlights open but do not depress the switches. Is it ok to shim behind the switch to bring it out more and to get a cleaner contact when the doors open?

Re: RS headlight limit switch adjustment

How much space is there between the door and the limit switch? If it's a very small gap, then you could shim it out with some small washers. Is it like that on both sides? Any chance the swing arm could be bent?
