starter bolt broke off in block...

The bolt that goes into the block for the starter head broke off.Went and got an easy out to get out the rest after drilling out the majority of the bolt. Well the easy out is now stuck in there. How can I get it out. Will using a torch to put heat on it for 20 seconds damage the block? Thanks

Luke,
Is the easy out broken or just stuck ? If its broken you are probably out of luck, there is no drill that I know of that will drill them, they have to be edm "blasted" out. If it is just stuck, you should be able to turn it clockwise and it should loosen right up. I doubt that the torch will help anything. You might be able drill from the top and then knock out the e-z out ? I have also heard of guys using a dremel tool and one of thier small diamond bits to grind away the e-z out, but it will probably require several bits and a LOT of patience.
Whatever you do, stop before you ruin it to the point that it cannot be repaired by your machine shop.

A little heat works wonders, so if you use a small tip on the torch, and just heat around the outside area of bolt hole, up along sides of hole, you might be able to get it out.

Put a nut over the hole and mig weld the inside of the nut to the top of the bolt, I have used up to a half a dozen nuts, but it never fails.
