RS headlights

I just installed an all new headlight system on my 1967 camaro. When opening the doors manually, the driver's side door makes link a gear meshing sound when opening with some resistance and the other side is more free moving with no sound at all. Both doors open and close when the lights are turned on and off. However, the passenger's side is not applying enough pressure to depress the limit switch. Thought maybe it might be a motor problem. Both limit switches have been adjusted to hit the opening doors correctly. Thoughts?

Re: RS headlights

Are you sure that the headlight assembly is installed correctly? Something might be wrong with the alignment with the door since you had to shim out the limit switch. Also make sure all the nylon washers are in place and the bolt for the swing arm isn't overtightened.

Re: RS headlights

You said that "the passenger's side is not applying enough pressure to depress the limit switch", from that it sounds to me that the motor continues to run and the door bounces on and off the limit switch. If the door is bouncing and starting and stopping the motor a little more tension on the arm may solve the problem.

Re: RS headlights

You are right! I tightened up the nut on the bottom of the arm and we are good to go! Thanks so much.

Re: RS headlights

CB, after tightening the bolts do both doors sound/feel the same when manually opening them?

Yes, both doors open with some resistance. Both doors make a gear meshing sound when I open them manually.
