Rubbing Noise

I just started getting a metalic rubbing sound when I start letting out my clutch. This clutch has less then 1000 miles on it and most were easy miles.
Almost sound like something went dry?

Re: Rubbing Noise

It sounds like the Throwout bearing is going bad.

Re: Rubbing Noise

You may be right! The only thing is it doesn't make the noise when it is in neutral and you move the clutch in and out.
I have had bearings go before and I could hear them all the time.
Only hear the noise when it is in gear and you let the clutch half way out.

Re: Rubbing Noise

I'm not really sure about this one..... but it might be an internal problem with the Trans. Try changing the gear oil and check to see if you have any metal fragments in the oil.

Re: Rubbing Noise

It was the trans and I guess I shouldn't complain, it is the original M22.
Time to rebuild.

Re: Rubbing Noise

Well I rebuilt my trans will all new parts! The old gears in the trans were shot. Pulled out the clutch assembly and checked everything out. Everything looked great. So I put the car back together and test drive it, perfect, no noise or weird sounds. I started the car up later the same day and when I let the clutch out at about the halfway point I got the rubbing noise again.
It only does it once in a while so I guess I will just drive it to something else goes. I have no idea what is causing this noise.
