starter problems

i put a big block in my 70 camaro and got rid of the points distributor and went with an msd ignition system. its pretty easy to hook up, but i cant seem to get the starter connections right. the startrer works if i jump it and i am getting power out of the thermal covered wire coming out of the harness. what am i doing wrong.

One thing you need to check and make sure that the wires are on the correct terminals. The yellow wire coming from the coil goes to the left terminal and the purple goes to the right terminal. I'm not sure if that is the correct color for the wires on a 1970 Camaro but it still should be the same hook up. If the wires are correct, then it's possible you have a bad solenoid.
