Gas Tank/Sending Unit leak

Hello Experts,
I have a leak where the sending unit goes on to the fuel tank due to poor fit of the repro sender to the repro tank. Both are nearly new. Is there some type of sealant I could use that won't get dissolved by fuel that will repair the problem? Thank for your help.

Regards

Re: Gas Tank/Sending Unit leak

Curtiss, Make sure that there is a gasket between the sending unit and the tank. Also make sure that the ring is on there tight....otherwise it will leak for sure. Do not use any sealant to stop the leak.....it shouldn't leak if done correctly.

Re: Gas Tank/Sending Unit leak

I'm dropping the tank this weekend to see if the locking ring popped out. I remember the fit here not being as good as the factory unit.

Thanks

Re: Gas Tank/Sending Unit leak

If its got the rubber "o" ring on it you should have had to push down on the sending unit to get it to lock on the tank. The pushing down is the compression of the ring that forms the seal in the tank. Also remember the 1st gen camaros were a problem child for leaking around the filler neck at the tank...might be worth a look while you're there
