Power steering hose smashed between headers and steering arms?

I have a 69 Camaro and when i turn my steering wheel (left or right...cant remember) the steering hose gets caught in b/w my steering arms and the headers...now I have a hole and a huge leak. I don't see another way to run this hose... Anyone have this problem?

Re: Power steering hose smashed between headers and steering arms?

The p/s hoses go under the motor mount and are held in place there away from the arms. There also is a clip on the steering box to hold the hose there away from headers. The AIM shows you this info. (assembly information manual) if you dont have you, you should get one.

Re: Power steering hose smashed between headers and steering arms?

The bracket is there but the hose seems too long for it. When the hose curls under the mount, it is about 2 inches lower than the bracket. The hose isn't really flexible so it doesn't want to bend up into the bracket. The hose is a Powermaster from Advance Auto for my application. Maybe another brand would fit better.

Would this pinching of the hose cause the engine to stall? Check out my other topic/post.

Re: Power steering hose smashed between headers and steering arms?

It sounds like you do have the wrong hose for your Camaro. Go back to Advance Auto with the hose and compare it to some with the same configuration, but a few inches shorter. Sometimes you might have to bend the ends a little to get the right angles.

If no one has a picture......As Click stated, there is an excellent picture of the bracket in the assembly manual.
