Re: 69 Power Steering Hose
GM Power Steering Hose Connections - Before 1980
All GM power steering connections up until 1980 were 45 degree double flare. Some Chevrolet pumps up until around 1970 had a male fitting and required a power steering hose with a female nut. After 1970, all GM pumps had a female discharge fitting and required a hose pipe with a 45 degree double flare and had a male 5/8-18 nut.
The power steering hose pipe at the gear was 45 degree double flare with a male 11/16-18 nut.
GM Power Steering Hose Connections - 1980 and After
Starting in 1980, GM changed to metric connections that required hoses with an o-ring seal on the pipe. The pump discharge fitting was female with a metric thread. The hose had a male 16x1.5mm nut and the tubing had a special form to accept an o-ring.
The connection at the gear was an o-ring with a 18x1.5mm male nut.
So unless you are using a later model gear or pump in your car, you would be using a hose with a 45 degree double flare end.
