Unhappy Help! engine lacks power has a strong exhaust odor

I have a 1994 Camaro with a 3.4L V6. It has an overwhelming exhaust odor coming from under the hood, it's loud when I accelerate and lacks power, like your starting off in second gear. The egr valve had started melting (the plastic) and the plug wire near the valve had melted as well as the plastic wire harness protectors. I replaced the egr valve and it had become so hot it had cracked the metal on the egr valve's mounting plate (not the manifold). It still has the strong exhaust odor and no power? Can anyone help diagnose this?

LOL onovakind67.

About the 94, sounds like a possible plugged cat converter.

It should be taken to a shop that can do a pressure drop test on it, but there is a backyard test.

Attach a vacuum gauge to a ported source, and rev engine over 2500 RPM. If the vacuum doesn't rise but continues to fall, there is a restriction in the exhaust.
