Help..! Car does not move an inch even when in gear and clutch released!!

I have a chevy camaro 2000 model. Manual transmission. Two days ago I noticed that the car was not getting enough power in 2nd and 3rd gear. Today it is dead completely. It is not moving an inch at all. Even if I put it in any gear, release the clutch.. nothing happens. Could anyone please suggest me what's wrong with the car? I am hoping it is not the gearbox

More details:
Car has 58K miles on it. In excellent condition (never gave any problems before). Engine sound is normal. RPM increases when I revv the engine. Shifting gears, I dont sense any unusual sound.

Clutch seems to have no effect on the gear.

I would check the slave silender. your cluch is hydrolic and must have fluid in it to work. there should be a white container connected to the cluch pedel on the theinside of the fire wall. make sure it has fluid.

Re: Help..! Car does not move an inch even when in gear and clutch released!!

how about starting easier guys...
check to make sure there is brake fluid in the clutch master cylinder (right next to the brake master but much smaller) if it is empty you probably have a leak. you could fill it up and pump the clutch for a few minutes and see if that helps and you can get the car to move
if it has fluid, i would still try pumping the clutch then check to see if you can get the car to move

let us know it that helps

Let's see,
clutch disc is toast, along with the pressure plate.
input shaft of transmission broke,
if speedo indicates speed and car is not moving, then rear axle is broken,
engine is off.

The above suggestions are dependent if the transmission shift lever does work and trans does shift into any gear, which you stated. Because, the clutch could not be releasing all the way and no selection of gear will happen with the engine running.

If you turn the engine off, does the trans go into any gear?

No. Even if I turn the engine off, it does not go into any gear.

As stated, I am able to shift into any gear. But when I release the clutch completely, car just does not move.

Just a day before my camaro stopped completely, I observed that it was not pulling with enough power when in 2nd or 3rd gear. I had to give a lot of gas to make it move.

Okay, which statement is correct?

If the only first statement is correct, then, the clutch is not releasing when clutch pedal is pressed.

If the only second statement is correct, then clutch plate and pressure plate are toast. They need replacing along with resurfacing the flyheel.

Re: Help..! Car does not move an inch even when in gear and clutch released!!

I have a good story that is related to this.

Back when I worked at an auto parts store, a guy came in and asked, "How much for a new clutch for my 90something Honda accord?" I looked it up and told him like $300 bucks. I asked him if he checked all of the simplier stuff first, and he said nope. I walked him over to the brake fluid, handed him a bottle of DOT3 and told him to make sure that he had fluid in the resivoir. He walked back into the store about 10 minutes later, slapped a $20 bill on the table and thanked me for saving him about $250 bucks

Your problem is most likely clutch related, but check all of the cheaper fixes first. Make sure you have fluid in the resivoir. Check that the slave cyclinder is actually pressing the rod (and in turn the fork). That will require 2 people, with one looking under the car. Turn the car off, release the parking brake, and put it in gear. If you can push the car around the clutch disc is probably worn out.
