Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

Engine is a real DZ. Owner has POP and original bill of sale. Block was decked and only restamped for reference. Original car crashed years ago.

Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

I would not think its real. You have to understand this is the biggest scam around. There is always some great story about what happened. If you want to save some money, buy the right block casting, take about .010 off where the VIN is, engrave the block with your VIN, (on a CNC milling machine) and DZ# and save some money AND have a matching VIN. If you don't have some real history of the car with the right motor in it, then it's not real or very unlikely to be real. Many have gotten taken on EBAY.

What you are not realizing is that smith69z used to own it and knows the history of it.

Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

So if this is not a real DZ, what should it be selling for? Keep in mind he has the original POP..

Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

What don't you guys get about the guy just wanting to verify the build date after a decking. He didn't try to make it look legitimate.
Sometimes you guys are looking for a scam where there isn't one.
This is the exact reason that I sold my one owner 69 SS396 w/ complete #'s matching plus an installed 454, 550 hp and bought an 02 Vette vert.
I am tired of all the drama that these cars bring. You are better off buying a no numbers car and building what you want.
Today there are too any experts with too little knowledge disputing everything that comes up for sale.
A site member sold this engine to a guy that decided to unload it. It hads all been discussed. Get over it for once.

Bob,
$6500 for a advertised real DZ engine that is really a $200 junk block is a scam.

Thanks,

Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

I did own the motor and spoke to the guy whose name is on the bill of sale. He bought the entire car in PA for the drive train. Sold it to Heartbeat city Jim who sold the motor to the buyer I bought it from. I had bought the motor 5 years ago. Is this really that unbelievable? The Bill of Sale Vin and POP match the vin on the motor. Had 1178 crank, pink rods, etc...

Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

What makes it a 200.00 junk block ? Looks like a nice complete engine other than the restamp and he disclosed in the auction that it had been decked.

Yea I agree. Sometimes the politics and general B.S. are overwhelming and killing the integrity of the hobby.

Re: Worst engine restamp ever??

I really don't see any difference between this auction with a fake stamp and any other auction with a fake stamp. Sellers always over-hype to make things seem legit. Smith69z made it clear to everyone here. All the seller had to do was state why it was re-stamped.

What if this was a true "X" code car that someone changed the tag for a different color. Would the seller get a free pass just because of paperwork? Yes I agree that we are sometimes quick to jump on things like this.

I would never let what others think dictate what I own or desire to own. I really do understand your flustration. I owned a 69 Chevelle SS396 all completly numbers car, Engine, trans, rear end with build sheet and protecto. Even had the orginal water pump, carb, dist and complete smog set up. Its amazing the amount of people that would want to pick it apart and call stuff restamped etc when I know for sure they were not. I always chalk those kind of attitudes up to jelouse people wanting to dregrade your car because 90% of them ask what the price is to buy it. Responce to them always was why would "YOU" want to buy a faked Chevelle Mr Chevelle expert? Then they try to leave you phone number and I would just tell them to keep it.

It's not about "getting it" Bob. This board is about discussion and sharing knowledge. The knowledge was shared. If smith69z had not shared what he knows it was just another auction in question.

What I think is odd that c130nav first post out states "worst engine restamp...." Better to ask a question like "what do you guys think?"
