A black panther posting at Camarosource

I'm curious about what you guys think. You need to go to the end of the postings, where there are pics of "an original" one.

It took the guy over a year to post some half a$$ pictures of this car on the other forum after I quizzed him on it. Sounds a bit fishy to me. 13 years in storage and now he has to put it away again...Stay tuned for the next set of pictures coming to a forum near you October 2009.

While I agree the guy seems like a bit of a flake I seriously doubt that he built a black 67 with gold interior and hunted down the proper wheels and added the gold stripes as well just to fool a bunch of internet Camaro freaks.... Looks like a very cool car to me and one I had never heard of before and I've been messing with these things for 30 years.

Re: A black panther posting at Camarosource

Geez guys, Why is it alot of you think anyone has to PROVE anything to you just because you ask for proof ? Is the guy trying to sell you the car ? From what I can see it's HIS car, he's not trying to sell it, he may not even realize it may be worth a ton of money, and he posted a few bad pics of it because he was asked for pictures. So maybe the guy isn't a great photographer and maybe he's got better things to do than to spend all his time trying to prove his car is what he says it is even though he's not offering it for sale. Why in hell is it some of you think the rest of the world owes you something just because you demand it ???

Mark,I agree with you. I was at Cruisin the Coast last week in mississippi and a couple guys are checking out my car. His buddy ask his other buddy how many camaros you have now. He said 14. Then tells me he has a COPO car too. I just look at him and say OK. I could have said prove it and tell me more about it but I just said cool. He also said he had 2 69 prostreet cars also. I also said cool. But what is the truth. I really dont care unless I see them in person. JMO

It's more after posting info about how rare this car is and giving both these guys the chance to "come clean" one of them posts some pictures that still don't prove it's a real one. What I'd love to see is if the car is the real deal, more pictures and better documentation so we can all learn about an important piece of history in 1st gen Camaros. That's what he owes us if he is a true car guy.

Re: A black panther posting at Camarosource

I can understand that and I would also love to see a detailed description of the car complete with closeup pictures of all the little things that make it unique including the trim tag, Panther emblem, etc. My only point is that not all Camaro owners are as anal about these important details like alot of the members of this fine website and just because someone dosn't show us every little detail we ask for dosn't mean his car is a fake. If the guy was trying to fake it for whatever reason do you really think he would spend the bucks on the proper interior, unique stripes, etc and overlook the Panther emblem ? In his pics it's not missing, he simply didn't show a pic of the front bumblebee stripe. What if the car was repainted at some point and the emblem was left off ? It is after all 40 years old. Just because you don't see it dosn't mean a whole lot. I had a close friend who bought a 69 BB Camaro many years ago. It was sold to him as an SS396 project car missing the engine, nothing more. While cleaning out the junk that was piled in the trunk he found a badly pitted Motion emblem. After doing ALOT of research, making a bunch of phone calls, doing a title search through DMV and then finally paying Joel Rosen a good chunk of change he found that he did in fact have a 69 Motion Camaro. Before my buddy died he also owned a 69 Motion Corvette and a 69 L89 Camaro with Canadian docs. His son still has the Vette, the other cars are long gone to new homes.

Re: A black panther posting at Camarosource

I still think this all seems a bit fishy. Lets face it "67BlackPanther" never did provide any evidence and 4 post "wild_one" posted some fuzzy..night shots over a year later...If you are going to make a claim like that would you not want to back it up with some good evidence? Personally I think that would add some credibility to their posts....just like rlyfst1 said we just want to give them the "chance to come clean". There is no obligation of course but then do not go claiming you have one either.

If we get good evidence then great, we all benefit by learning more about these rare cars and where they wound up. If we don't then we are no further ahead are we.

Hey capt...about giving the guy a call...maybe.... but I think some really good pictures and documents if they have them is worth more than a 1,000 words. If the cars really exist then good for them.
