Post Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

Have not posted here in a while, thought it was time to post some trivia for you folks. For your interest the first 1969 Camaro ordered for Canada was a convertible with VIN 124679N500019, the shipping date for this car was August 25, 1968. The last car ordered for Canada was a coupe VIN 124379N711836, with a shipping date of November 11, 1969. Only Norwood cars were imported into Canada. I hope this helps to get some conversations going for the enthusiasts here.

Re: Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

Hi George!
That's the latest I've seen a NOR car shipped. I've seen one that was shipped 11/10. For reference, the last car from Norwood was 9N711922.

I'm curious, what engine was in the early car? 327?

Thanks!

Re: Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

Greetings, all I can say regarding the engine in the first VIN is 'bigger' ( we have to keep something back ). The last LF7 327/210 car appears to be *****9N571395 that was shipped January 8, 1969, after that the 307/200 came in, but that is just an estimate without doing a lot of searching. Unfortunately we do not have production dates on record, only shipping dates. Sorry I cannot visit all the time but always try to drop in and get you folks thinking.

Re: Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

Sounds like he's just "thinking" about selling it. No contact number, just email thru craigslist. 124679N500019
Craiglist ads ending up getting erased easily, so heres the ad:

Quote:
I'm considering selling my 1969 Camaro Convertible with Rally Sport Package

Front Disc brakes, 12 bolt, Non numbers matching 1969 date coded 396 SHP JH engine with 4 speed manual

Very low VIN# Norwood plant car - N500019 with no trim tag

Car is painted and is 50% to 75% assembled and is in need of a new home

California clean title in hand

Will consider a serious offer in person after viewing and discussing details regarding the purchase of the car

I'll sent photos though pic text or email photos upon request.

Question Re: Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

To whom it may concern,

Yes... The 1969 Camaro convertible N500019 still existed. The car was ordered for Canadian stock for inventory and it would've have been distributed by the zoning office to a Canadian dealer after the car had been received. The shipment on August 25, 1968, to Canadian zoning was canceled and the car still exists in the U.S.A Any thoughts? Why was the order cancel?

Re: Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

Chevrolet didn't build cars for zone stock (though Pontiac did), cars were shipped directly to the dealer (or the zone office).
What dealer is listed on the GM of Canada docs and what dealer is on the NCRS doc?

Question Re: Canadian 1969 Camaro Production

To Whom it may concern,

NCRS doc came back negative, but Vintage Vehicle Services INC of Canada has docs on the car and they informed me that the car never made it to a (zone office) "dealer destination" and the order was canceled. I have been reluctant to order the docs assuming that wouldn't show information of the dealer that first sold the car since it didn't make it to a Canadian dealer zone office. I never thought about that it may show which dealer that it was supposed to receive the car which wouldn't show why the order was canceled and NCRS has nothing to share for USA dealers as well. The first lowest production Camaro shipped to Canada and "ONLY" from the Norwood plant was a coupe VIN 500401 and the first lowest convertible was 502406. That starts the Camaro exported to Canada for the coupe at 400 and 2,400 for the convertible number sequence. The sequence of 500019 which in my "opinion " never came with "NO" Fisher body tag. (Look closely at the firewall photo of the car in the unrestored state). "What are anyone thoughts"
