Lookin for dads ol car????

Here it is. Bought in roughly Oct of 1969 from Katinca(sp) Chevy in Belair Ohio. Galcer blue w/ 4spd, 350, blue int, center consol and blue vinyle top!

Shortly after purchased I came along and dad found that it wasn't the best family car. It was sold in late 72 early 73 to a guy he worked with at Worthington Cyl in Columbus Ohio. This was the 70's and it had a pretty distinctive paint scheme on it when sold.

I'm currently restoring my 69 (again) and dad's best friends car (69 RS Z28) is almost finished. He's been retelling the stories of his car days and with what I've told him about the discussions on this site I was thinking anything is possible. For years he wouldn't even have thought about trying to locate his old car, said he wanted to remember it like it was...not like someone else has it.?.
I know most of the posters on here are from out west, but in my short time watching this site some amazing things have happened and what could it hurt? If anyone could help me as to where I can start my search I would greatly appreciate it. It would be amazing to see if this car survived! This was the car that started, for better or worse, my Camaro Craze!

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Lookin for dads ol car????

If you could find the VIN number it would make it ALOT easier.

The dealership has been gone for 10+ years and dad never fathomed needing to keep a copy of the vin...we're lucky he kept the pics.

Re: Lookin for dads ol car????

There is a record of your dad owning this car at the Ohio DMV I'm sure...at least thats the way it is in Tennessee. There has to be a way that someone at the DMV could "reverse look-up" all the cars your dad has registered in Ohio...just a thought. With that comes VIN and you're off to the races

Glacier Blue with Dark Blue Vinyl top isnt that common or at least I dont think so.

53 C would be the code on the tag for that color.
Goodd Luck with your search.

I love stories like this, sounds like my story , when my kids came along. I had the same type trailer hitch too. Hope you find the car.

Re: Lookin for dads ol car????

When I was about the same age as the kid shown in your pic (you ?) my dad had a 56 XK140 Jag. Unfortunately mom sold it in the late 60s or early 70s to a guy who was in the Air Force and got transferred out of state. I would sell every other vehicle I own to get that car back if it could ever be found.

If you find the VIN, you might think of going to an automotive title service company. They will be able to tell you if it has been salvaged or still registered. The Patriot Act would prevent them telling you who the present owner is and where its located.

I like the U-Haul installed trailer hitch.

Re: Lookin for dads ol car????

I have been looking for my parents old '69Z as well for years. I don't have a VIN either, and have never had any luck.

It's a dover white '69 Z28 and was sold in Spring Grove PA just outside of York PA back around 82 or 83. I remember seeing it in Spring Grove for a year or two after that, but haven't seen it since.
It was sold to buy a 'family car' as well.

Re: Lookin for dads ol car????

Paid the $2 for the BMV to do a search of dads regestered autos. They said they couldn't guarantee anything but for $2 its worth a shot. Also found the name of the guy who dad sold it to....Bill Roister or Royster! Been doing the phone book search...wish me luck!

Oh Yea...the Big Chey next to the Camaro....Our family car Big Block-4sp....dad had priorities!
