Re: earliest 67 3916323 block?

The 323 block was supposed to have started in June 67. I have one from a Chevelle that has an assembly date around June 25. I don't remember the exact date off hand.

68 Camaro SS 396 - 468 BBC now, M21, 12 bolt 3.73 coded housing but w/ 3.31 gears.
Looking for 68 Camaro with body number NOR 181016

Re: earliest 67 3916323 block?

I realize this is an old thread, but another data point.
This L78 was for sale on Fleabay about a year or two ago.....

F 7 7 T0705MR 7L164951

About 400 cars after my 07B L35

My original motor is long gone, but I did find an F 5 7 406 motor as a replacement.

Has anyone seen a '67 L35 323 block?

No.

Most early 323 blocks were cast in early June, but didn't get assembled til late June or July, fwiw.

The reason I ask is that I've seen pics and posts of a handful of early June cast 323 L78 blocks but never a 323 L35. So I began wondering if the 67 323's were L78 only?

Re: earliest 67 3916323 block?

I don't recall the actual date but it was an F code. I kind of remember it was the 21st of June. The engine also had the 215 heads, the boss for the temp sensor was there but not drilled. In 1968 they mover the sensor from the intake to the head.
