That is a CE block. Not the original DZ block to the car. It's a replacement block. Drops the value of the car, but still somewhat desired if the original is missing.

Re: X33 Tag Legit?

That doesn't look like anything I've seen in a Camaro. Usually there is the partial VIN plus a date stamp indicating the plant, month/day and suffix, so V0605DZ would be a 302 engine manufactured on June 5. Your pic doesn't look like either stamp

Re: X33 Tag Legit?

Does the tag match the car? It says you have a Fathom Green hardtop with dark green bucket seats...The tag looks authentic, but there should be numerous other indicators on the transmission, rear end, glove box, etc. The fact that the engine doesn't look like its original and not a 302 hurts the cars value considerably....

A (CE) block would not have a VIN. It's a replacement warranty block that GM installed, or one purchased directly from the desler. Doesn't mean it's not a 302, just not the born with 302.

Re: X33 Tag Legit?

So..

CE9A92512

A 1969 engine with a CE serial number of 92512.

At least it's a early 1969 CE block.

Most likely a warranty replacement. Is the engine a 302 with 302 heads?

Is there a difference between the CE 350, CE 327 and the CE 302? Trying to find out if this block is a factory 302.

No, there's no external markings showing a difference, so the only way is to pull it apart and check.

And there's a lot of information regarding these engines HERE.

The 69 302 uses a 350 block. With a bore scope you can see if it has domed pistons.

Re: X33 Tag Legit?

Take a pic of the end of the crank on the back. 302 is different than 350's.
