Re: VIN # on engine block original?

Looks like a hand stamped VIN so IMO, at least that's been re-stamped. There's other guys out here that know a lot more than me that will weigh in. You would need a much better pic to see if the original engine designation/date code stamp is original.

Re: VIN # on engine block original?

Post the photo in the "Tag Team" forum. The experienced folks don't check the "What's it Worth" forum very often !

Whoever scraped the paint off the build code sure did a number (SCRATCHED) on the surface. I can't make out the last digit in the suffix code...

Re: VIN # on engine block original?

I cant really judge by that picture. Hard to make anything out but the VIN

Its an MW code which I believe is a 396/325hp.
Not saying that it is. I personally need a better pic.

I found the car

Re: VIN # on engine block original?

The seller is not claiming it's a numbers matching car.

Re: VIN # on engine block original?

If you hover (zoom) over the photo in the ebay ad, the suffix code is definitely MW, which is L35, M/T. Things are pretty easy to see....

No expert, but I'd say it's a restamp, bogus broach marks and all.

Re: VIN # on engine block original?

The car was on ebay back in 2004 and yes, the engine is a restamp.
