81 Z with tilt wobble

The tilt mechanism on my 81 Z has excessive play. Looking for recommendations to have it rebuilt or is it an easy repair?
Thanks!

Re: 81 Z with tilt wobble

there is a bearing at the upper end of the shaft that goes south from what i remember...could also be it loostened up...sounds like you`re pullin the steerin wheel...the tilt parts are under the lock plate and blinker assy...

sometimes you`re the windshield and sometimes you`re the bug...

Re: 81 Z with tilt wobble

Is the car safe to drive? Can it break all the way and I lose my steering?

Re: 81 Z with tilt wobble

There are 4 torx heads that come loose. If bad enough, it can come undone - ask me how.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold
I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors
