Re: removing shackle bushings from frame

pdq is right...except pulling a back molar is less painful

IIRC mine were 2-piece, and I had the tank out so I had more room.

Re: removing shackle bushings from frame

What a pain! I had the tank out and rigged a c-clamp to help press them out. I invented several new swear words that day...
I read where some have mentioned using a torch to burn them out...
When you get them out, others have mentioned using a brake cylinder hone to clean up the hole if there is rust in there...

Were they 2-piece? Or is my memory stumbling again?

Re: removing shackle bushings from frame

Yeah, two piece. I cut one end off with a hacksaw...then pushed the rest out with a clamp.

Re: removing shackle bushings from frame

After cussin' and trying the C-clamp option, I finally dropped the tank and burned them out.

Re: removing shackle bushings from frame

Mine were not to hard to remove. Used a screwdriver/awl to help dig them out. Might have used channel lock pliers to turn and twist on them. But as I said mine did not cause me an issue. Once removed though clean out the holes real good and use plenty of lube when installing the new bushings.
