bushings, poly vs rubber

I am getting ready to redo complete front end . Would like to get input on the best product for replacing all my bushings including subframe. I have heard poly are better, but I have had some say the squeak. Thanks.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

Use plenty of PolyLube, available at Autozone and you won't have any squeaking problems. I have the full Energy Suspension kit on my cars, no squeaks.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

If you have the coin, the best bushings are hard plastic. Del-a-lum from global west is one example.

Rubber= lots of deflection, some friction.
poly= little deflection, lots of friction.
del-a-lum=zero deflection, almost zero friction.

Unfortunately, del-a-lum bushings run about $140.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

Yep I run these black graphite poly kits from Eibach, no squeaks after 3 years

Energy Suspension Body Bushings - Part Number 3.4142B
Energy Suspension Control Arm Bushings - Part Number 3.3101B
Energy Suspension Control Arm Bumpers - Part Number 9.9154R
Energy Suspension Transmission Mount - Part Number 3.1108G

Get the Energy Suspension Formula 5 Pre Lube Part # 9-11110 (4.5oz) or 9-11104 (8oz) and lube everything real good. The kits above come with some prelube but not enough to coat everything. I also use the same on any bushings including shocks and swaybar bushings.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

I have poly subframe bushings. Will never go back to rubber.

They make the car feel very solid and it turns and handles corners better

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

Thanks for the input. Matts classic bowties shows a polyplus kit, is this the same as Energy suspension as far as product? The info on both seem the same. Also can you tell me why all kits for 67 are more expensive than 68-69. From what I can tell there are the same amount of parts.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

Brian, thanks for your help. I found a site- Performance Suspension Components- that has a complete rebuild kit for $330.00. They state this a Energy Suspension kit. They also state that bushings are grafite inpregnated, but Energy Suspension's site does not state this. I am curious is it a true Energy Suspension bushing. I also don't see on Energy's site where they offer anything but the bushings.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

The 3 parts I listed are 3 kits, total cost is around $130, alot cheaper than $330! Body Bushing Kit comes with all new bolts/washers (see picture below). The G in the part # means Black GRAPHITE.

Re: bushings, poly vs rubber

Cool, the reason for added expense for kit I was looking at had all bushings plus ball joints with poly boots, tie rod ends, idler arm etc., it was a full kit. I figured why it was all apart replace it all. Better now then doing part of it then something giving out and replacing anyway. What I will do is shop around to out source other parts to compare price. Thanks again Brian.
