Power brake booster differences

What is the difference between an 11 inch stock 1969 booster and a new 7 inch two stage booster.

Re: Power brake booster differences

but seriously
the dual diaphragm 7" booster has 76.93 sq in. to apply assist with
the stock 11" booster has 94.99 sq in.
a dual 8" booster would be about the same as stock about 100 sq in.

or did you mean in appearance?
check these guys they have lots of pictures

Re: Power brake booster differences

So then it would take more foot pressure to apply the brakes using the 7 inch 2 stage booster?

Re: Power brake booster differences

Okay. Now that I know that it requires more foot pressure to use the 7 inch booster here is the problem.

The pedal does feel harder but when stopping at a stop sign the first push of the brake pedal feels normal then the second push is firmer and the third push is like manual braskes you got to push very hard.

Why could this be hapenning?

Re: Power brake booster differences

if your engine makes a lot less than 16" of vacuum at idle, what you are saying sounds about right

there is a check valve in the line to the booster to hold the peak vacuum inside the booster, which will give you one really well assisted braking
then each additional push has less engine vacuum to assist you

Re: Power brake booster differences

Never heard of a fix. It's the nature of vacuum assisted brakes. Use up the vacuum=no more assist.
