Need help with Speed Tech

I bought this 69 Camaro subframe with these Speed Tech A arms already installed. Nothing is tight yet, has QA1 coilovers on it. My question is, does the arm look too close to the frame. There is no weight on the front end. If the front drops considerably with the engine installed, I think it would clear fine. It just seemed weird that it would hit if I tighten them up the way they are. It's like that on both sides.

I think you're OK. My car, with another brand of UCA was the same way with no motor but the additional weight I had good clearance.

Re: Need help with Speed Tech

Installed engine and I still have less than 1/64 clearance on the back side of the arm. Has anybody had to grind down the side of the frame in question? I called Speed Tech and he didn't think there would be an issue. Just seems awful close.

Re: Need help with Speed Tech

Well... you are going to need to install shims, to align it ??

That will pretty much take up the rest of the room.

... And yes... I have had to trim the rear to get them to fit on some chassis... but no too many.

Shims??? Just kidding. I actually installed the recommended shim starting gap by Speed Tech and it's still too close. Well off they come for some subframe grinding.
