68 spring diameter?

Urgent help needed. Can anyone confirm inside/outside diameter of 68/69 front springs? Trying to order some global west alloy spacers but they say 4inch outside for usual 1103 spacer? My springs are 4inch INSIDE, around 51/4 outer dia.Not sure if they are originals but seem to fit seat pockets ok. Cant find spring info or spacer dims.

Re: 68 spring diameter?

A 307 engine Sport Coupe car regular # 6314 spring w/o A/C should be 3.675" ID and like 4.895" OD. from my 1996 CarQuest Spring Cat.

A #638 396 Coupe car's w/o A/C spring is 3.625" ID and 4.885" OD.

I have shortened # 5536's in my car that started at 488 pounds and I figure are right at 525 pounds.

Re: 68 spring diameter?

First gen coils are called 5" OD, but they actually will measure a bit larger. second gen coils are 5.5" OD, but will also measure a bit larger if the wire is thicker.

Check my web page for First Gen Camaro suspension info:

Re: 68 spring diameter?

Anyone know what the height of a stock coil is supposed to be out of the car?

Re: 68 spring diameter?

Andrew - 1103 is the spacer that CFunk used on his 67, and what I bought for my 69. I have not had a chance to put them in yet. https://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...highlight=1103

JC - the free height depends on the spring's application and construction. If you're trying to figure out what you have, we need to know more info like how the car was equipped from the factory (A/C, HD suspension, big block or small block, etc.). If the coils are replacements (like Moog, for example), you may find a part number stamped into the end coil.
