SSBC Brakes Set Ups

What do you guys think about SSBC brake set ups for 67-69 camaros? How do they compare to Baer brakes and the AFX drop spindle set ups? Here is a link for SSBC.

Re: SSBC Brakes Set Ups

We were SSBC dealers. Had a absolute nightmare with a system and we did not exactly get the kind of service we were looking for. Long story short the calipers were pushing out and retracting every time the pedal went up and down. After a week of fighting it and them telling us that this could not happen, we removed the caliper and left it connected to the hose, pushed the pedal up and down and made a video we sent to SSBC. The guy on the other end said, well I be damned! Never seen that before! Looks like you better send those calipers back to get rebuilt. They rebuilt them, but since the customer had them sitting in the closet for a year before he installed them they were out of warranty and they charged us for the rebuild. thank goodness we had not sold the brake kit to this customer, so he had to pay for the rebuild of the brand new calipers, or we would have absorbed that cost. THAT will never happen! There will never be a chance!

We are top 25 in Wilwood sales, and are proud of this. We also can get Baer. Wilwood is the absolute best bling for the buck in a trick upper end brake kit.

Re: SSBC Brakes Set Ups

I've used three sets from them and haven't had any problems. Two of the setups were for front stock type brakes and the other was for rear disc brakes on a 12 bolt. They went on with minimal problems. I would use them again.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue

Lots of discussion here if you search "SSBC".

Re: SSBC Brakes Set Ups

And I need to be clear on something. In the end the brakes worked fine. It was the service and the surprise cost I was unsatisfied with. Situations like this will only happen once with me!
