Dazed and Confused on springs

Have done a lot of reading on this site as to what rear spring to run. I'm in the process of converting the car to disc brakes and figured while I was at it do the springs. I want to raise the car as it sits to low (floor to rocker panel front 8", rear 10"). I ordered big block springs for the front. I'm not sure whether to go with a 3,4 or 5 spring leaf. Sounds like 5 leaf would raise it enough but I don't want the ride to suck. Suggestions???

Re: Dazed and Confused on springs

Shawn,

Do this!!

Install the cheap roundy-round adjustable cans in front and then pick what rate short roundy-round coil spring you want to run!

Then in the rear I would go w/ stock mono's and cheap coil-overload shock springs and I did for years.

You will just need to tune them is all height-wise and side to side rear tire pre-load and go!

And I love my old homemade "slapper" traction bars too! And they are cheap enough so I didn't spend $100's on whatever the latest and greatest modern "slappers" are cost-wise..

Just make sure that they slap right under the front spring eye!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOT on the leaf before b/c they can twist and break them!!!!

Re: Dazed and Confused on springs

Thanks pdq, sorry I went to bed after I posted. Already started install of big block springs. Makes sense using coil overs. Used front spring inserts and air shocks on the one I had back in high school, didn't know if there was a better way 25 years later.
