Bad master cylinder or????

I was driving home from work the other day and my brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the brakes barely worked. The pedal was also very easy to push down. I figured it was the master cylinder so I got a new one, bench bled it, installed it and bled the brakes. After all of the this, the pedal still goes to the floor and the brakes still barely work. Pumping the brakes does not improve pedal feel or make the brakes work any better. It is a 67 with power brakes and discs in the front. Any ideas on what else could be the problem?

Re: Bad master cylinder or????

Check your rear wheel cylinders. One of them most likely is blown.

Re: Bad master cylinder or????

Probaly a blown seal in a caliper or wheel cyl. Take apart and check for leaks.

Yes, the M/C was full when I lost the brakes. I will pull the drums tonight and check the wheel cylinders. If there is a bad seal in one of the calipers, would I see any fluid leaking out externally?

Sounds like air in the system. Bleed bleed bleed
