Coil Spring Problem

Not a Camaro, but someone should be able to help. I just picked up a 71 Chevelle. Noticed some noise coming from front end passenger side. Looks like most of suspension is new, but the coil spring is rubbing against the frame hole. The spring looks like it's seated properly. Could it be installed upside down after doing the other work? The driver side looks fine and has no problem. Would upside down install cause it to rub? Also, car appears to have no frame or body damage that I can see. Thanks in advance for any help.
