Which booster?

My booster is hissing at me so it's time to replace. While my car is not 100 percent, I try and keep it looking as close as I can. I don't need an original 100% correct booster but something that looks right at first glance.

Ricks and D&R Classics have these booster's below, but one is $180.00 and the other is $129.00. What,s the difference? Is the one from Ricks better? Any other recomendations?

Re: Which booster?

More of the same, I get my power boosters from Ground Up, looks like the price ranges
are all over the place for these units. You get a cash discount so I get them a bit cheaper.

Re: Which booster?

Ken, to get the ground up discount you have to be apaid TC member. Also, your booster. Is it original to your car?
BTW, the DR booster will work great for your car.

Re: Which booster?

The ones that Matt's and Right Stuff carry work pretty well. I've got the regular non-stamped 11" one for my four wheel discs and it works well even on a motor that only pulls 12" of vacuum at idle.

I'll betcha a dollar that they are the exact same ones you are looking at but Rick's marks them up. D&R has a good price on the stamped one.

Re: Which booster?

I get mine off of E-Bay for $89. They are plated correctly and do not have the Delco stamp, but the stamp is available for a few bucks more. The 3 I have bought work great. There is not much to these and to pay more than a $100 is wasting your money. Just type in brake booster for a 69 camaro.

You get a discount by walking in the door. But if you don't live close by that does you no good.

Re: Which booster?

I figured the ones from Ricks and D&R are probably the same as well, just wanted to check with you guys who have already had experiences, thanks.

I have checked e-bay and they are cheaper there, and at least one with free shipping, thanks. D&R estimated shipping at $35, though that was with a few other items, though small ones.

Yeah, they'll getcha. D&R does have an ebay store under "drclassiccom" and most of the stuff there is shipped free and it's the same price as their website so you save some money. I've gotten several items there. I hate it when they charge shipping by dollar amount instead of actual size/weight. Northern Tool does. Summit and Jegs have their set charges which beat pretty much everyone.

Stay at it enough and you'll start doing what I do....have three or four windows open at the same time building the same order on different sites to compare total cost.

Ebay is hard to beat a lot of the time but sometimes it's a gamble if you need to get a replacement. Lifetime warranty doesn't mean much to a guy outside the paypal dispute time limit when he's running a drop ship shop out of his house. I still get a lot of stuff on there though. On anything questionable, fund the purchase with your credit card through paypal so you've got them to back you.
