Front Suspension ?'s

Hi Everyone,

I have a '68 Firebird that I want to improve the handling on. The problem is I'm not sure what I want and therefor don't really know what to do. First, let me tell you what I have now. The car was built to go in a straight line, aka drag racing, and has a 455 Pontiac in it. Its not chopped up, no cage, roll bar, or tubs, just a basic street/strip machine with an emphasis on the strip. In the rear it has Landrum split mono's with Caltracks and the shocks suggest by the Caltrack people. Up front it has newer rubber bushings, a set of old 6 cylinder springs and no sway bar. In between are welded in subframe connectors. This setup was great for the strip, but not so good on the road, especially when the skinnies were on the front! haha

I'm not looking to convert it into a corner carving g-machine, just something that handles the roads better. I've never driven a first gen in stock form, so I don't know what thats like. Maybe that would be good enough for me, I don't know. What I do know is I want it to sit about stock or a little lower, and will probably go with 15" wheels. I don't want to change anything with the rear susp if I don't have to. I'm going to be converting the front to non-power discs. I already have the brake kit. I will be adding a front sway bar, of course, but I have no idea what springs, shocks, bushings etc to use. I've looked at the poly and the del-alum bushings, is there much difference performance wise? I've been looking at springs from here:

They look like they are reasonably priced and have lots of options, but I'm not sure of what quality they are or if they would work for sure. Any help to get me pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.

Some good reading in the "Sticky" at the top of this forum. For example:
