Steering Box Leaking - Replace? Upgrade?

I just fired her up after 3 years of work and I noticed the steering box is leaking fluid. It is the original 67 power steering box. I will need to remove the box regardless and wanted suggestions on what I should do. My options are to rebuild it, replace it, or upgrade to a better unit. This is not a corner carvering track car, but I would like it to handle well without a lot of steering play. I would like to use the existing steering column, linkage, etc. I would be nice if there is a good bolt in upgrade that is recommended.

Thanks!

You might want to read the third gen conversion in the sticky. Where is it leaking from?

Its leaking at the shaft to the pitman arm.

Easy fix... pull pitman ARM... remove c clip ..start car turn wheel and old seal pops right out... install new seal.($12.00 at napa) takes about 20-30 minutes from start to finish

Good luck

Will it blow PS fluid out along with the seal? Man, that would save me some time and money. I plan to upgrade eventually, but not right now...I want to drive it!

Re: Steering Box Leaking - Replace? Upgrade?

Brandon, take Jims advice and check into the 3rd gen swap. I just did it on my 67 a few months ago and it is a huge difference. Just do search on 3rd gen swap and you'll see all the parts including part numbers that you need to do it. Just make sure you measure your pitman arm so you get the correct length one.
Good luck brother.
