67 power steering box

Your guys thoughts? Where to buy, what to get, how much to spend? Mine is leaking and I need to do something soon.... I researched it a bit, but didnt see anything worthwhile. All your thought are appreciated, as always this is my source for the truth......

Re: 67 powersteering box

There is much information here on that. Gen Three IROC box comes to mind.

68 302 M20 - 85 IROC Z
The older I get the faster I was.

Re: 67 power steering box

I really like my Lares 972 box, which is a stock 1st gen with fast ratio and IROC internals. Direct swap, original for core.

Re: 67 power steering box

Mike. Does your Lares 972 box have a 4 bolt housing and the larger input shaft? Just purchased a Lares 972 steering box from Advance Auto Parts, and the box I recieved has the 3 bolt housing with a smaller input shaft.
The specs on Advances website list it as; 10:1 ratio,2.5 turns,4 bolt housing, .8125 input shaft. Thats not what I got.

Re: 67 power steering box

Mine is as specified:

It sounds like you might have gotten the Lares 973 or 974 box by mistake?

Check out the catalog pdf to see the specs (page 134):
