Hotchkis SFC's and CalTracs are in!

I had every intention of doing this install myself - glad I didn't

Both the Hotchkis SFC and CalTracs work great together. The SFC's are nice and tight to the floor boards and well designed. I went with the low profile CalTrac front mount - it ends up being 1/2" higher than horizontal.

A few tips for anyone else -

Install the CalTracs first so you can center the rear notch in the SFC to provide access to the front mount.

The lower shock/CalTrac mount needed to be drilled out to match the Hotchkis U-Bolts. I am sure the mount was drilled for stock u-bolts.

You'll need a press to push in the alum bushing into the front spring eye. Also slid a piece of 3/4" dia. heater hose over the Caltrac roll pin to prevent chatter.

The other trick was getting the old rubber subframe body mount out and the new urethane mount in before you weld in the SFC. Start to finish, including welding, touch up, etc was about 12 hours
The car now feels tight and solid on rough roads and sticks in the turns without twisting. Can't wait to put these to the test with upcoming 496.

Sweet!!! Is there any way you can post a pic or two from about 10' away from the car so I can see how low everything hangs? Thanks

Re: Hotchkis SFC's and CalTracs are in!

not great pics, but you can get the idea.
the critical ground clearance on my '69 is the scattershield and Hooker collectors

5-1/2" clearance from ground to the bottom of the sub-frame
5-1/4" clearance from ground to low point on Hotchkis SFC
4-3/4" clearance from ground to low point on CalTrac low profile mount

Nice! Reminds me I need to install my Cal-Trac bars that have been sitting on a shelf for over 4 years now....
