Emergency Brake

I just bought a very nice 69 Camaro , it is more of a Pro Street car with a 502/502 , Termac 5 speed and a 9" Ford rear end. When the Ford 9" rear was install, the emergency was never connected. What will I need to do to get the Emergency working ??

Re: Emergency Brake

Whether drum brakes, disc brakes, and disc brakes set-up with e-brakes, you'll need the cables for each wheel, just like OE design. If no cables, get some, Drum cables from most GM models, Nova, Omega, etc., might work. Disc cables would require alittle more searching.

Once wheel cables are in place, you'll need the clips to hold the cable in its bracket next to the front half of the spring. Then, the U-connectors to attach them to the intermediate cable.

The intermediate cable will need the subframe-to-cable hook to hold it in line with the pass side wheel cable. The drvr side of the intermediate cable will hook into a sleeve and connect to the primary cable from the brake pedal. There are two different lengths of intermediate cable. If the long one is in place, and its too long, a length of copper tubing will take up the slack between the sleeve and adjusting nuts, as they are double nutted to lock the adjustment.

Most repo houses, sponsors here, have the items needed, unless you find an older salvage yard from a donor car.
