Question about E brake

I was thinking about changing the E brake from the stock position and replacing it with a center console system in between the seats.
Has anybody done that on here, if so what are the problems, if any?
It is in a 67 FB conv.

Re: Question about E brake

Should just be a matter of fabricating the right brackets and cables, but why?

Re: Question about E brake

Basically any hand brake out of a Jappa(import) and the primary cables, bolted or welded into the floor and connectect to the loop cable that goes to each rear wheel in the same manner as the factory unit will do the job...

The E brake (foot ) as exists in most American cars is a basically a foriegn concept to out british/ jappa national fleet in NZ....I haver raised this question before...how do u guys do a hand brake turn/spin with the foot operated E brake.....the hand brake its simple to pull on, regulate the rear brake pressuer and drop off for some impressive acrobats.
Which is the only reason that I can think of to convert...and the reason why I have considered the mechanics of it in the past.

So how do u guys do controled E brake/hand brake turns/ spins with the foot E brake?

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative

Re: Question about E brake

I was just thinking that it might be kinda neat looking and something different. I am not putting a console in this car so there would be an easy place for it, other than that, no reason.
It also makes it easier to remove and install the kick panel. I planned on sealing those up and turning them into speakers.

Re: Question about E brake

Hey Steps....it's good for burnouts in FWD cars too LOL

Buddy had a rental and we were cruising down the road at 50 or so....guy in rear seat pulled the brake....we dragged the tires for about half a mile

To the OP...yes, can do and shouldn't be that hard....just watch driveshaft clearance

That is not an issue when using modern jappa units as they are general duel cables degined to go ether side of the driveshaft in rear wheek vechiles....even front wheel drive usually have 2 cables

Hand brake slide turn....hit between 20 and 50 mph....just as u start to tweek thrsteering wheel to change direction, pull the hand brake on full and jam the steering wheel full over, the car turns 80 degs into a slide, straighten the wheels, dont turn into the slide thu, drop the hand brake and give the throttle full death and u are now travelling at a 90 deg direction i a very spectatualar manner lol

Fro theire one can d things like full spins, to simply be sitting idle and turn the car facing the opposite direction......how do I explain that....
u are in a line of stopped traffic and next to the road center line... Imgine a car also stuck in traffic facing the opposte direction just on the other side of the center line....thats where u end up, idleing way all innocent looking arounds as to where the big noise come from!!... who ME? !
