Tire rubbing issue and noise on front

Okay so I have recently bought new wheels, cragar 15x7 in fronts with 4-1/8 backspacing. I took the car out this morning because I also just put a new steering wheel on and wanted to make sure it was aligned before I thightened it. I noticed when I got it out that when I turned it to the right it made a noise. I took it back home and looked at the front and noticed I had about a 3/4" gap in the passnger side and it was slightly rubbing ( no gap) on drivers side between the tierod arm and the tire. Did I get to much of a backspacing on the front? Can I adjust the tierod somehow and and still have it be aligned? I assume so since there is a gap on the passenger side and not on the drivers side. Car is a 67 camaro.

What size tire?

I run 15x7 with 4 1/4 backspace and 215 65R15 with lots of clearance all around.

edit: I just took a look at mine and I have about 1" clearance on each side of the tie rod end to the tire.

I'd say your issue is in the steering linkage.

Re: Tire rubbing issue and noise on front

Tie rod end connects to the steering arm which is bolted to the spindle.

I'm no expert but, either you have bent steering arm on one side or mismatched backspacing on the front rims. Did you measure back space before install?

Tbd67 – If we’re understanding you correctly, it sounds like you have one long steering arm off of a different car (like maybe a ’74 Nova). There were at least 3 different length steering arms that will bolt onto the first gen Camaro spindle.
Here’s a picture from David Pozzi’s Camaro suspension page:

Re: Tire rubbing issue and noise on front

I will measure them tomorrow to see if they are the sane length. Ihad the car at hibdon today checking the alignment. Wish I would have thought to check the lengths while it was up on the lift.....
