Alignment of everything....

I just put in poly body bushings on my 68. Checked for square before and after. My diagonals are within an 1/8" from LCA ball joint grease zerk to the forward most bolt on leaf spring pocket. The body of the car sits about 3/4" to the passenger side both front and rear. This was the case before the body bushing install as well. It's noticeable over the tires from side to side. If you look at the wing nut on the aircleaner compared to center line of body it is to passenger side also about an inch. Do any of these cars come this way from factory like this? Since subframe is square to the car it has me confused. Car hasn't been an accident that I can tell. It looks like I have two different wheel backspacing from drivers side to passenger side.

Thanks

Re: Alignment of everything....

Could be just the way the rear was torqued, spring bushings worn/old, or spring hangers ?

Sounds like it's just the leafs leaning but for what reason ?

Re: Alignment of everything....

See if it's crabbing. You need someone to follow you down the road who knows what crabbing is. If it crabs then it's miss-aligned, most likely, at one axle. You can check things like the rear axle position on the springs from side to side. The axle could be further forward on one side than the other.

Re: Alignment of everything....

Since these Camaros' were made before CAD, some have had misalignment.
You might diagonally measure from suspension points to the opposite rocker panel seams to check body/suspension mounting points alignment.

Just for giggles....also measure the axles on both sides to make sure they're the same also. Someone swap in an off-set rear ??? Just thinking out loud.

Re: Alignment of everything....

Sorry didn't mention I have the 3" lowering leafs in back from hotchkis. The new leafs did pull the rear over some compared to the mono's that were on there. Overall im still sitting closer to the passenger side. Ill see if I can post some pictures from drivers side to passenger side. The axle alignment is set with nipple on the spring pack into the perch, correct?
