How do I test a brake power booster to see if the diaphragm, or whatever is in there will work as a vacumm? I have one that has been sitting for about 6 years, and want to install in a daily driver.

I'd stick a check valve in it, hook a hose to it to any engine vaccum source, then disconnect vaccum, but leave the check valve in the booster.
Then after about 10 minutes, pull the vaccum check valve out and see if the vaccum stayed in the booster.
If there is no vaccum retained, there is a leak.

When I pull the check valve out, and assuming the booster is good, will I hear a rush of air? And if it is bad, will I hear nothing?
