Hey fellas,
Just dropped my old gearbox out today. Not as hard as I thought. It and the pitman arm are in dire need of replacement and I'm looking for a quick ratio without spending 300.00 at classic industries.

I checked Dave Pozzi's website and it says a 82-94 F body gearbox will swap into mine. Can I use the junkyard pitman arm also with my linkage? Also, will I need a different size coupler?

Thanks for any help or ideas you might have! - Chris.

Yes you need the chevy pickup coupler and a pitman arm for a firstgen Camaro, PS version with larger shaft hole.
You also need adapters to adapt the metric box ports to US threads.

I just cleaned up some of my PS info for you.
I added a checklist of things to do, be sure to read the info just above the checklist, it has part numbers.

David, as always, you are a wealth of information! Here is the setup I'm thinking of going with, could you please check it for me before I drop a load of cash on it?

86 Iroc with sport suspension PS gearbox

Smaller shaft steering coupler joint (3/4" 30 spline).

5.2 inch Rare Parts pitman arm for 69 camaro.

Metric to standard adapter fittings for fluid lines.

Hopefully, this combo will give me the fast-ratio even though I'm using the shorter pitman arm. Or am I wrong and need the fast ratio longer pitman arm AND the fast-ratio gearbox together?

Thanks again for the help, David

For the adapters for the fluid lines, check out Lee Manufacturing (818)768-0371, talk to Tom Lee or his wife. They sell seat adaptors that allow you to use your stock SAE flare seat power steering lines insteady of the metric o-ring seat power steering lines that would have originally came on that late-model box. Their adaptors are simple to install and once installed you can not even tell they are there. The price, about $4.00 each and you need 2. He can set you up with the new flexable coupling (steering column adaptor (rag joint)) that you will need as well. Or you can get one off of a 1977 thru 1982 Chevrolet and GMC C/K (2 wheel and 4 wheel drive) Pickup Trucks,
1977 and 1978 Camaro, Firebird, and Nova,
1979 Nova, 1983 thru 1986 Chevrolet and GMC C (2 wheel drive only) Pickup Trucks. This coupler is also still availible through GM too as part number 7826542. The price according to www.partszoneonline.com is $69.43.

Good Luck
