The sway bar brackets provided in my front end rebuild kit are longer and narrower than the original equipment. The length is about 1/4in to long and the bracket overlaps the shock tower. There is a 1/8in lip on the tower which keeps the bracket from seating to the frame. The new bushing has a recess about 1/8in on each side which keeps the old bracket,it's too wide, from seating with the new bushing. I can either shorten the new bracket, cut the lip on the shock tower, grind the old bracket to make it fit the new bushing, or grind the recess off the new bushings. Any suggestions.

I had the same problem when I went to an 1 1/8" bar. I chose to notch the frame spring pocket so as not to perhaps weaken the bar bracket. If I had to do it again, I might grind the bracket and use grade 8 washers but for my 'hotrod' I didn't really have a concern.

I chose to grind the bracket and have not had problems since install a couple of years back. If that is the Addco bar, I believe the company has the proper brackets now. Might want to try contacting them. Another member had the same problem and Addco sent him the proper brackets. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it might be a convertible problem at first. I will try to get a bracket that fits if not I'll gind the supplied bracket.
