Is there a bolt in Rack and Pinion steering setup that I can install in my 69. If, so where can I get one. I am trying to shave off some weight and get better steering also.

there is a company called "steeroids" (i think that is the name) that makes one. They advertize in lots of the car mags... a manual setup runs around $1000 though. Drops something like 30 pounds.

If you want to go with a manual box instead of a rack & pinion, Flaming River sells a vega style box that weighs around 8 pounds. That will drop you quite a bit of weight.

use the search link upper right of this page and search the archives of this section.
There has been a lot of discussion about it in the past.

69Dragracer: email me, I can tell you about the whole setup for Steeroids. I have the bracket that they sell. I did have the whole kit, but I returned it all but the mounting bracket...not because I didn't want it, but because I couldn't use it with the chrome headers and sidepipes that are on my car. I'll sell you the mounting bracket and tell you everything else you would need to buy (local auto parts)to make your car rack & pinion steering....for a fraction of what you would have to pay the Steeroids guys. Email me if you're interested.

I reversed engineered the setup, when you figure out where the rack came from you still have to modify it. With the trouble
I had to go through, i stick with the orginal
camaro setup or just purchase the steeroid.
