I recently swapped disk brakes onto my 69 chevelle from a 72-74 camaro. Upon installing I noticed that the ball joint studs would not come up high enough to permit the cotter pin to be pushed through. I bought new ones for the 72-74 set up but they turned out to be about an 1/8 too big around. Can they be machined to fit and would this be safe? Has anyone remedied this problem in another fashion? I would sure appreciate any opinons and ideas.
There are two articles in one of the mag's called "Knuckle Sandwich" and Knuckle Sandwich Two" that tell everything you ever wanted to know about putting different spindles on the A-bodies and second gen. Camaro cars. I think they have you covered with what to do!
And, please go over to Team Chevelle and ask them, too. pdq67
I'm not sure what is done to make it work. There may be a later style lower ball joint that has turned down OD to fit the A frame.
check the team Chevelle sister site to this one.
