Question

Hi how are you today? I'm new to this forum
I was wandering if it is posible to put R.I.S
on a 3rd gen camaro and still have a real fast car
I want a high 11 second car and I heard that a 84 corvett R.S.I is the best because it doesnt have ABS. can this rear end hold more than 500HP?

thanks

Don't think it will hold 500hp!!

Plus, I think it is more or less a known that a solid axle car like ours drags better then an IRS car b/c the outer axle carriers arms don't behave like a leaf spring, (Camaro), or a coil car like a Chevelle in the drag application b/c they are too short and this affects the instant centers or something like this, thus making them less eff. planting the tires.

Please, would somebody else step in here and explain this better!!

Well actually, it could hold 500hp if (and thats a big IF) the rear suspension was set up correctly.

But the 84 geometry is the worst. Who cares if it didnt come with ABS? The 88 and later has improved geometry and yeah it did have ABS from the factory, but that doesnt mean that you have to run it if you were to do a conversion in an early F-body.

Yes you have the ability to run and 11 second time, yes it will handle 500 hp if you were to use I believe the automatic rear end as it is a DANA 44. The manual transmission rear end was a DANA 36.

Food for thought...
